Appraisal Groups Announce Cooperative Agreement **Updated**

American Society of Appraisers, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers to Sign Cooperative Agreement
What:
American Society of Appraisers (ASA) to host annual international appraisal conference in Minneapolis, MN featuring the signing of a memorandum of understanding by The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) and ASA.
In approving a memorandum of understanding, the boards of the three organizations agreed to encourage a positive environment within which ASA, RICS and ASFMRA can work collaborate. Additionally, the memorandum provides a basis for joint action in priority areas of common interest. Most recently, the three organizations worked together to send a joint comment letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission regarding a draft report on improvements in financial reporting.

At the agreement signing, ASA International President Ronald Seaman, FASA, ASA International Past President John Willey, FASA, will represent ASA; RICS Americas Chairman Tom Justin, RICS Americas Past Chairman Tony Grant and RICS Managing Director Matthew Bruck will represent RICS; and ASFMRA President Steve Runyan will represent ASFMRA.

Herndon, VA- The American Society of Appraisers (ASA), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) have announced their intention to explore areas of collaboration and cooperation.
In approving a Memorandum of Understanding, the boards of the three organizations agreed to (1) encourage a positive environment within which ASA, RICS and ASFMRA can work collaboratively; and (2) provide a basis for joint action in priority areas of common interest; e.g. enhancement of business, continuing professional development, education/training, member services, and professional services.
Most recently, the three organizations worked together to send a joint comment letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding a draft report on improvements in financial reporting. Together ASA, RICS and ASFMRA represent 150,000 valuation professionals in 150 countries.
“ASA looks forward to working with the professional members of these fine organizations to benefit the valuation profession,” said John Willey, a Fellow of the American Society of Appraisers and the group’s current International President. “This kind of cooperation is vital if we are to solve the challenging issues of today’s marketplace, and ASA is committed to seeking and supporting such collaboration among reputable appraisal organizations,” he added.
